I hope everyone had a restoring weekend after what I am sure was an exhausting first week of school! How are you guys liking my new blog theme? I am really ecstatic about how the “Wandering with Grace” logo turned out!
For the first part of my “Back to God” – back to school series I wanted to tackle the cliche and honestly a very overdone topic of, confidence. But the reason its so over done is because confidence can make or break you. How you feel about yourself is important!
Proverbs 3:26-“For the LORD will be your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught.”
- How you look: What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone? How they look! What they wear, hair style, weight, height, ect. Our worldly minds cant help it, our sinful nature is programmed to judge. You begin to feel self confident because you start to compare yourself to others. This is a hard habit to break, but once you can learn to control it, you life will be so much more enjoyable.I t hink about it like this, we our God’s masterpieces. He gave us this incredible gift of life, so when we compare ourselves to others we are telling Him “Lord you didn’t make me as beautiful as others, this masterpiece You made is ugly” God doesn’t make mistakes or things that are ugly. You are made in His perfect image. Thank Him for it.
Psalm 139: 13-14: ” I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”
- Building others up: It might seem like it helps, but you should never have to tear someone else down to build yourself up. God doesn’t want that for you.He wants you to find joy in building others up, and to be an example of His love . You will find so much more joy in making someone smile then tearing them down to make you feel better about yourself. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, we are a community, a church, fighting our way through the evils of this world to seek the glories of God. We are ALL His masterpieces.
1 Thessalonians 5:11:”Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
- Be content: Some might think this doesn’t goes with this subject of confidence, but material items can defiantly challenge your confidence. Everyone wants more-better-faster-stronger, but that doesn’t make you more important or better then others. God wants us to not be concerned with what you DONT have but what you DO have! Be content, it might be difficult but God has blessed you tremendously, and when we go to Heaven it will just be us. We leave EVERYTHING behind. Do not hide behind your worldly objects, but make sure your heart is the richest thing you own!
Hebrews 13:5-” Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- Inner beauty: It might sound cliche but your heart should truly be the thing that shines! Your beauty should come from your love of The Lord. Your happiness, love, mercy, and grace from Him should be the first thing that people notice!
2 Corinthians 4:16-“ Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
Well I hope you enjoyed part 1 of “Back to God” and that you can use these verses and words to build your confidence! You truly are a beautiful masterpiece from God, and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
